Dr Nauman Reayat, PhD, University of York, UK

I completed my doctoral research on judicial independence in authoritarian and hybrid regimes at the University of York. Using the case of Pakistan, my doctoral research explained that a combination of social, political, and legal factors contribute to the increase in judicial independence in authoritarian and hybrid regimes like those in Pakistan from 2005 onwards.

I led and taught the constitutional politics, social policy, democratic politics, and South Asian politics modules in different universities including but not limited to Abdul Wali Khan University.

My ongoing project involves publications and events on judicial independence in authoritarian and hybrid regimes. The publications generalise the findings of my PhD research to other jurisdictions and make a comparative analysis of judicial politics in authoritarian and hybrid regimes. The events disseminate the findings.

What do I do

I am happy to collaborate with individuals and organisations worldwide on new projects and ideas regarding any aspect of constitutional and judicial politics, rule of law, and the politics of human rights.

I help those who are interested in securing grants for their new research projects or ongoing projects. Feel free to drop an email.

I hold discussions on assessment held by the National Committee of Accreditation (NCA) of the Federal Law Society of Canada regarding the process of becoming a lawyer in Canada. I am happy to help individuals prepare for the NCA exam. Those interested to become a lawyer in Canada please get in touch for details.
